Tita Juliet was the very first to trust me with creating a modern Filipiniana piece for her to wear on son’s wedding. Working from the assigned gray color palette for the mothers, we aligned on a vision that blended tradition with contemporary elements--something fresh yet unmistakably a Mother-of-the-Groom gown.

As the gown came to life during its production, I recalibrated a bit. Following the sketch exactly, the Tapis had too much volume at the center. Tita Juliet embraced the pivot, and we reimagined it with a softer flow, shifting the volume to the side instead. The result? A piece that moved beautifully with her as she shared a tender mother-son dance at the wedding and an element that she gently held on to as she spun around while dancing (like what she's doing in the next photo).

During the fitting, we fine-tuned the gown further—sewing in the Terno sleeves and making the Tapis removable for more versatility. Throughout the process, her grace and openness inspired every adjustment and detail.
This is how the gown looks like without the Tapis and the Terno Sleeves:

Creating this gown was not just about craftsmanship but about care and intention, knowing each piece carried meaning for her son's special day.
It also marked a milestone for me—only two months into learning my Terno sleeve-making technique. Since then, I’ve embraced new Terno sleeve making techniques, excited for the different possibilities in shaping future Terno designs for clients like Tita Juliet.
Sparkle in your milestones and a have a Filipiniana designed and created by QUIERO.
